Get Your Camera

THE BEST TIP ANYONE can give you, is to open your eyes and to look at the world around you.

Landscape pictures don't just happen, people spend, days, weeks and months looking for the perfect location. Then when they've found it they wait for the perfect weather, and then when it does, no matter if the wife is in labour, they rush out to get the shot. (I know a couple who got divorced of a landscape photography obsession.)

But also keep a lookout for good landscape pictures around you.

Check magazines and websites, find your favourite shots, and then try and work out how the photographer achieved it.

Training your eye visually is one of the most important things asspiring photographers can do. By looking at the pictures taken by others you learn what you like, and importantly, learn from their triumphs and failures.

Now that you have some ideas, why don't you browse over to our Filters Section to find out how a little piece of glass can improve your pictures. Or, alternatively, read our Aperture and Depth of Field section, and learn the basics of photography.
