So what is soft light anyway?
Hi guys,
I'm new to photography, so forgive me if this is a silly question:
I like shooting portraits and have been advised that I will improve my pictures if I soften the light.
What does that mean? Is it just another way of saying I have to dimm the light?

I am just a beginner but this is what I found:
'Soft light refers to light that tends to "wrap" around object, casting shadows with soft edges. The softness of the light depends mostly on the following two factors'
So I think it refers to something related to the shadows in outdoor photography.
