Size of the boat or motion of the ocean

Hello all,
I just found these two great articles, one arguing that your gear does not matter, and that a good photographer can take a good picture with any camera.
The other took real offence, and wrote a quite heated reply.
I was wondering what you all thought, and in which camp you pitch your tent.

In the words of Roger
In the words of Roger Waters
"It's like saying give a man a Les Paul and he becomes Eric Clapton"
This is from an interview where they are being criticized for using a lot of new technology to make their music.
Yes, equipment DOES matter, but it will not make the picture, much less a GOOD picture.
This are the two statements that I think sum all up:
- Photography is not possible without a camera and a lens.
- The word "image" comes from the word "imagination."
And that is it, you need a good equipment, but without imagination, you will get nowhere.
Regards,
Felipe
